Please be ready to provide your vehicle’s year, make, model and location of the vehicle.

What happens after I submit my donation?

After completing the form, a confirmation email will be sent to you. Within 24 to 48 hours, you will be contacted for pickup arrangements.

What happens to my car?

Midway will evaluate your vehicle and determine which facility will be able to compensate Catholic Charities top dollar for the vehicle. Vehicles will be evaluated based on the year, make and model of the vehicle along with its mechanical condition. Most vehicles will be recycled and repurposed for their parts, Midway prides itself on recycling all aspects of the vehicle. Proceeds will fund various programs within Catholic Charities of Kansas City- St. Joseph to include: disaster relief, homeless shelters, food pantries, veterans services, job training, early childhood development, and more.

What should I do with the license plates on my vehicle?

The following states require the license plates remain with the vehicle unless they are personalized. Please contact your local department of motor vehicles if you have additional questions:

Do I need to have my title notarized when I sign it?

If you live in any of the following states you must have your signature notarized on the title before you submit it:

  • Arizona (AZ)

Do I need my title to donate my vehicle?

Yes, the title must match your name, in order to accept your donation. Please check the state title requirements based on the state that you live in. We have a title solutions department that can assist with any questions, please call 913-637-9080.

 

Alabama (AL)

  • Passenger vehicles 1975 and newer require a title

  • Motorcycles, mopeds, and trailers 1975 and newer require a title

  • ATVs, snowmobiles, and boats do not require a title

Alaska (AK)

  • Passenger vehicles, motorcycles 1959 and newer require a title

  • ATV’s, boats and snowmobiles do not require a title

Arizona (AZ)

  • Passenger vehicles, motorcycles, trailers, motor homes, ATVs and mobile homes 1925 and newer require a title

  • Boats, mopeds, and snowmobiles do not require a title

Arkansas (AR)

  • Passenger vehicles, motorcycles, trailers, RV’s, semi-trailers, mobile homes and ATVs 1949 and newer require a title

  • Boats, snowmobiles, and mopeds do not require a title

California (CA)

  • All motor vehicles and trailers 1923 and newer including motorcycles, boats, and RVs

Colorado (CO)

  • All vehicles moved or operated on the highway 1925 and newer require a title

Connecticut (CT)

  • Passenger vehicles, motorcycles, RVs and trailers with a GVW of more than 3000 lbs require a title

  • ATVs, snowmobiles, mopeds, and trailers with a GVW of < 3000 lbs are not titled

Delaware (DE)

  • Passenger vehicles, motorcycles, mopeds and RVs 1921 and newer require a title

  • ATVs, snowmobiles, and boats do not require a title

Florida (FL)

  • Passenger vehicles, motorcycles, motor homes, trailers with a GVW of 2000 lbs or greater and boats 1923 and newer require a title

  • ATVs purchased after 7/1/2002 require a title

  • Trailers with a GVW of less than 2000 lbs, snowmobiles, mopeds, and slide on campers do not require a title

Georgia (GA)

  • Passenger vehicles, motorcycles, kit vehicles and trailers with an unladen weight of 2000 lbs or more 1985 and newer require a title

  • Mini motorcycles, boats, boat trailers, ATVs, snowmobiles and homemade trailers do not require a title

Hawaii (HI)

  • All vehicles operated on the highway 1940 and newer require a title

  • ATVs, snowmobiles, mopeds, and boats do not require a title

Idaho (ID)

  • Cars, trucks, trailers, RVs, trailers with an unladen weight of 2000 lbs or more 1927 and newer require a title

  • ATVs, snowmobiles, off-road motorcycles purchased after 1/1/1991 require a title

  • Mopeds larger than 50cc that travel more than 30 mph require a title

  • Neighborhood electric vehicles purchased after 7/1/2005 require a title

  • Boats 2000 and newer with a permanently attached motor or sail or any boat longer than 12 feet require a title

Illinois (IL)

  • All vehicles, boats, boat trailers, RVs, motorcycles, ATVs (purchased after 1/1/1998) and any vehicle that moves upon the highways 1934 and newer requires a title

  • Snowmobiles do not require a title

Indiana (IN)

  • Any motor vehicle, motorcycle, semi-trailer, utility trailer, RV and boat must be titled

  • Boats purchased after 1/1/1986 with a purchase price of $3000 or more requires a title

Iowa (IA)

  • All cars, trucks, motorcycles, trailers with an unladen weight of more than 2000 lbs, semi-trailers, boats over 17 ft or boats with a lien, mopeds, snowmobiles acquired after 1/1/1998 and ATVs acquired after 1/1/2000 require a title

  • Trailers and semi-trailers with an unladen weight of 2000 lbs or less do not require a title

Kansas (KS)

  • All passenger vehicles, RVs mobile homes, mopeds, motorcycles, trailers with a GVW of 2000 lbs or more, farm trailers with a GVW of 6000 lbs or more and ATVs 1929 and newer require a title

  • Snowmobiles, farm tractors and road rollers are not titled

Kentucky (KY)

  • All motor vehicles, boats, motorcycles, RVs and trailers require a title

  • Junked vehicles, snowmobiles, mopeds, and ATVs do not require a title

Louisiana (LA)

  • All vehicles require a title regardless of weight, size or use

  • Snowmobiles and boats do not require a title

Maine (ME)

  • All passenger vehicles 15 years old or newer require a title

  • ATVs, snowmobiles, mopeds, boats, trailers with an unladen weight of fewer than 3000 lbs and motorcycles less than 300 cc do not require a title

Maryland (MD)

  • All vehicles except mopeds, ATVs, and snowmobiles require a title

Massachusetts (MA)

  • Passenger vehicles, motorcycles, buses, RVs, government-owned vehicles, kit vehicles, trailers with a GVW of 3000 lbs or more, and reconstructed vehicles 1972 and newer require a title

  • ATVs, snowmobiles, trailers with a GVW of less than 3000 lbs and mopeds do not require a title

Michigan (MI)

  • Cars, trucks, motorcycles, ATVs, campers, pickup campers (since 1991), trailers over 2500 lbs, boats 20’ and over, any boat with a permanently attached motor newer than 1919 require a title

  • Snowmobiles, mopeds, trailers less than 2500 lbs, boats 20’ and shorter without fixed motors do not require a title

Minnesota (MN)

  • Passenger vehicles, motorcycles, mopeds, and RVs require a title

  • ATVs, trailers with a GVW less than 4000 lbs, agricultural trailers, ATVs and snowmobiles do not require a title

  • Boats newer than 1991 require a title unless they are less than 16’ long

Mississippi (MS)

  • Passenger cars, motorcycles, mopeds and RVs newer than 1969 require a title

  • Snowmobiles, ATVs, boats and utility trailers with a GVW < 5000 lbs do not require a title

Missouri (MO)

  • All vehicles including passenger vehicles, motorized boats, sailboats 12’ or greater, motorcycles and ATVs require a title

  • Mopeds and snowmobiles do not require a title

Montana (MT)

  • All passenger vehicles, boats, snowmobiles, motorcycles, RVs and ATVs require a title

  • Non-motorized boats less than 12’ and mopeds do not require a title

Nebraska (NE)

  • All passenger cars, trucks, motorcycles, RVs, travel trailers and trailers with a GVW of 9000 or more require a title

  • ATVs and mini-bikes purchased after 1/1/2004 require a title

  • Boats purchased after 11/1/1972 require a title

  • Snowmobiles and trailers with a GVW less than 9000 lbs do not require a title

Nevada (NV)

  • All cars, trucks, motorcycles, kit vehicles, boats, and RVs require a title

  • Snowmobiles and ATVs do not require a title

New Hampshire (NH)

  • All cars, trucks, motorcycles, trailers with a GVW greater than 3000 lbs, RVs and motor homes newer than 15 years require a title

  • Mopeds, boats, snowmobiles, and ATVs do not require a title

New Jersey (NJ)

  • All cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles, mopeds, RVs, mobile homes, trailers with an unladen weight of more than 2500 lbs and farm implements weighing more than 1500 lbs require a title

  • ATVs, industrial equipment and snowmobiles do not require a title

New Mexico (NM)

  • All cars, trucks, trailers, buses, motorcycles, ATVs, motorboats 10’ and over require a title

New York (NY)

  • All vehicles manufactured after 1/1/1973 including cars, trucks, kit vehicles, RVs, motorcycles, and buses require a title

  • ATVs, snowmobiles, trailers with an unladen weight of fewer than 1000 lbs do not require a title

North Carolina (NC)

  • All cars, trucks, motorcycles, and RVs newer than 1923 require a title

  • Snowmobiles, ATVs, and mopeds do not require a title

  • Boat titles are optional

North Dakota (ND)

  • All cars, trucks, boats, and trailers weighing more than 1500 lbs newer than 1927 require a title

  • Boats, trailers weighing less than 1500 lbs and snowmobiles do not require a title

Ohio (OH)

  • All vehicles since 1938 including cars, trucks, RVs, ATVs, and motorcycles require a title

  • Trailers with an unladen weight of 4000 lbs or less, farm equipment and construction equipment do not require a title

  • All boats over 14’ and all motorized boats require a title

Oklahoma (OK)

  • All vehicles including cars, trucks, commercial trailers, pop-up trailers, mopeds, and boats require a title

  • ATVs purchased after 7/1/2005 require a title

  • Snowmobiles do not require a title

Oregon (OR)

  • All motor vehicles driven or moved upon the highway newer than 1925 including motorcycles, mopeds, trailers with a loaded weight of more than 1800 lbs and RVs require a title

  • ATVs and snowmobiles do not require a title

  • Boats are titled through the OR state Marine Board

Pennsylvania (PA)

  • All cars, trucks, ATVs, motorcycles, mopeds, snowmobiles and RVs newer than 1923 require a title

  • Please contact us regarding boat titles

Rhode Island (RI)

  • Titles are issued on all vehicles 1973 and newer but are not required on vehicles more than 10 years old.

  • Boats less than 14’, snowmobiles, ATVs and trailers with a capacity of 3000 lbs or less do not require a title

South Carolina (SC)

  • All cars, trucks, motorcycles, motor homes, RVs and home-made vehicles newer than 1958 require a title

  • Mopeds, snowmobiles, ATVs do not require a title

  • Please contact DNR regarding boats

South Dakota (SD)

  • All motor vehicles newer than 1925 including cars, trucks, motorcycles, motorized boats, boats over 12’, snowmobiles, and ATV’s require a title

  • Mopeds do not require a title

Tennessee (TN)

  • All vehicles operated on the highway including motorcycles, mopeds, and camping trailers require a title

  • ATVs, dirt bikes and snowmobiles purchased after 6/1/1983 require a title

  • Boats, boat trailers, pop up campers, utility trailers and farm trailers do not require a title

Texas (TX)

  • All cars, trucks, motorcycles, trailers with an unladen weight of more than 4000 lbs, campers, ATVs and motorized boats greater than 14’ require a title

  • Farm equipment, snowmobiles and motorized boats less than 14’ do not require a title

Utah (UT)

  • All cars, trucks, motorcycles, mopeds, RVs, ATVs and Snowmobiles 1933 and newer require a title

  • Boats built after 1985 require a title

  • Trailers with an unladen weight of fewer than 750 lbs do not require a title

Vermont (VT)

  • All cars, trucks, motorcycles 300 cc or more and RVs, 15 years old or newer require a title

  • Boats 1989 or newer or 16’ or longer require a tile

  • ATVs and snowmobiles 2004 or newer require a title

  • Trailers with an unladen weight of less than 1500 lbs and motorcycles less than 300 cc do not require a title

Virginia (VA)

  • All motorized vehicles, motorcycles, boats and RV’s require a title

  • ATVs, snowmobiles, and mopeds do not require a title

Washington (WA)

  • All vehicles including cars, trucks, ATVs, mopeds, campers, and boats require a title

  • Snowmobiles and farm equipment do not require a title

Washington DC

  • All motor vehicles that are moved on the highway including passenger vehicles, motorcycles over 50 cc and trailers require a title

  • boats more than 14’ require a title from the DC Harbor Patrol

  • ATVs, snowmobiles, and motorcycles under 50 cc do not require a title

West Virginia (WV)

  • All vehicles driven or moved on a highway including boats, snowmobiles, ATVs, trailers, and semi-trailers require a title

  • Farm tractors do not require a title

Wisconsin (WI)

  • All vehicles newer than 1925 including cars, trucks, motorcycles, and RVs require a title

  • Boats are titled by the DNR

  • ATVs are not titled

Wyoming (WY)

  • All vehicles used on highways including cars, trucks, motorcycles, and ATVs newer than 1935 require a title

  • Mopeds, boats, snowmobiles, and trailers with an unladen weight of 1000 lbs or less do not require a title

When will I receive my tax receipt?

You will receive a tax receipt within 30 days after your vehicle is picked up.

What can I claim as a deduction?

You can deduct the value of your vehicle only if you itemize deductions when filing your taxes. Under the current IRS law, you may deduct the fair market value of your vehicle up to $500, or the actual selling price, whichever is greater. If your vehicle sells for more than $500, we are required by IRS law to report your donation using your tax identification number.
